The Hem of the Garment

I wrote this in 2005 but someone told me to post it. So here it is.

Hopelessly looking

Searching for something

Just outside

My grasp

Will I ever touch

The hem,

Just the hem

Where all will be healed

It’s so dark

All around me

Scratching along

The dirt

Just a glimpse

Of the hem

Will do it

And I’ll know I’m close

Because once I touch

The hem

Of the garment

My sins will fade away

Oh the scars

Will still be there

But life for me is waiting

On the hem of the garment

Yes, I have

Been there before

And under

The garment of praise

But somehow

My eyes

Have fallen

Off the One who paid the way

Just keep on looking

For the hem

Of the garment

Of Jesus

Maybe someone

Will help me out

And let me lean on them

The rest of the way

So I can touch

The hem again

And be in the presence

Of Jesus

Just one touch

Will do it

One touch

On the hem of the garment

Some Thoughts From The Heart

I’ve been trying, thinking, jumping out of my skin
Trying to fight something from deep within
My heart, my mind telling me to give in
New year, new day, new resolutions
Old life past, another year gone
A new time to find, another idea in my mind
What am I doing, what can I say?
Thoughts reel in my mind, what to do every day
Questions arise about my life
How do I end all this strife?
God, are you there? Are you listening to me?
I feel all alone, can’t you see?
God, if you are there, please help me believe.

In who she is
There is frustration
She’s transfixed
Upon devastation

She’s a lost cause
No room for change

Her heart bleeds from
Secrets she can’t tell
The mirror screams to say
You’re condemned to Hell

don’t let her break

Love her despite the
truth behind her eyes
The wind gusts along
no one realizes
the story she cries

The words I write
upon a page is
all endless emptiness
No one can hear

The end will soon fade
As well as the tears
